Always, in December- Emily Stone

Summary:  It started with a letter. It ended with a love story. Every December, Josie posts a letter from her home in London to the parents she lost on Christmas night many years ago. Each year, she writes the same three words:  Missing you, always.  But this year, her annual trip to the postbox is knocked off course by a bicycle collision with a handsome stranger--a stranger who will change the course of Josie's life.   Josie always thought she was the only one who avoided the Christmas season, but this year, Max has his own reasons for doing the same—and coincidence leads them to spending the holiday together. Aglow with new love, Josie thinks this might be the start of something special.    Only for Max to disappear without saying goodbye.    Over the course of the next year, Max and Josie will find that fate continues to bring them together in places they'd never expect. New York City. Edinburgh. The quiet English countryside. And it turn...

If the Shoe Fits- Julie Murphy

Goodreads summary:  After having just graduated with a degree in shoe design, and trying to get her feet on the ground, Cindy is working for her stepmother, who happens to be the executive producer of America's favorite reality show, Before Midnight. When a spot on the show needs filling ASAP, Cindy volunteers, hoping it might help jump-start her fashion career, or at least give her something to do while her peers land jobs in the world of high fashion. Turns out being the only plus size woman on a reality dating competition makes a splash, and soon Cindy becomes a body positivity icon for women everywhere. What she doesn't expect? That she may just find inspiration—and love—in the process. Ultimately, Cindy learns that if the shoe doesn't fit, maybe it's time to design your own.   Current Goodreads rating: 4.13 My rating: 5 I don't always love a Cinderella retelling. They are always hit or miss for me. This one was definitely a hit! I have always  wanted a story w...

Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson

Synopsis from Goodreads:  Pip is  not  a detective anymore. With the help of Ravi Singh, she released a true-crime podcast about the murder case they solved together last year. The podcast has gone viral, yet Pip insists her investigating days are behind her. But she will have to break that promise when someone she knows goes missing. Jamie Reynolds has disappeared, on the very same night the town hosted a memorial for the sixth-year anniversary of the deaths of Andie Bell and Sal Singh. The police won't do anything about it. And if they won't look for Jamie then Pip will, uncovering more of her town's dark secrets along the way... and this time  everyone  is listening. But will she find him before it's too late?  Current Goodreads rating: 4.41 My rating: 3.4 I really loved the first book ( A Good Girl's Guide to Murder ) so I bought this one as soon as it came out. It just took me a while to get around to it, ha.  I would recommend the audioboo...

My Favorite Books of All Time (right now)

This book I read right after it first came out in 2019 and I still think about it all the time. It's huge and I recommend it to everyone. 😅 When I first read this book I was NOT  prepared. All I'm saying is grab some tissues. I thought it was really inspiring and just so heartbreaking. I have been known to buy this book as a gift for others.  I actually found this book because I was searching for books to read after Priory  and this book came up on a 'you may like' list. I did like. I loved it. I've still yet to finish the trilogy because I'm just not ready. This is such a fun tale. I vote for them to turn this into a TV show. (I'm manifesting it lol) Y'alllllllll. This is not my typical genre. This book is SO MUCH FUN. I don't remember what possessed me to pick up this book at my book store, but I read it in about a day. I don't even play videogames or know that many 80s movies, but I was still highly entertained by this book and could not p...

Mid Year Favorites

Hoooooow is it already June?! On my reading challenge I'm at 30/60 books so I figured now was as good a time as any to look over the books I have read so far so I can choose my favorites. Hopefully at the end of the year I'll do this again and narrow it down to my favorite read of 2021! Here's what I've loved reading so far:  The Viscount Who Loved Me- Julia Quinn      - I have read half of the Bridgerton books now, but so far this (the 2nd) is still my favorite! If I ever re-read any of these books it will be this one. Single Mum's Book Club- Victoria Cooke     - This book was so cute!! This was one of the first ARCs that I got through NetGalley and still probably my favorite one of the books I've read. It's hilarious, I laughed out loud several times. It's also endearing and heart warming.  To All the Boys I've Loved Before Series- Jenny Han     -I saw all of the Netflix movies before I read the books so I did picture the Lara Jean fr...

Finlay Donovan Is Killing It- Elle Cosimano

This book was a hoot. I was lucky enough to get it in from the library after only a couple week's wait. Finlay is a struggling writer who desperately needs to come into some cash. While meeting with her agent at a Panera Bread a woman overhears their conversation and mistakes Finlay to be a hitwoman! She offers Finlay 50,000 to kill her husband. She wouldn't do it, right? Obviously, the book blurb hooked me as soon as I read it. Though at times the book gets a little too coincidental, it is still a fun read. I enjoyed the characters as well and I'm excited there will be a book two coming out next year! Finlay reminded me a little bit of Rebecca Bloomwood ( Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella). Things just "happen" to Becky in hilarious ways a lot.  I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who doesn't take themselves too seriously and is looking for a 'for fun' read. It was a good cleanser to some of the other stuff I have been reading. Not 1...

Evelyn Hugo

This week I finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo  by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I had a little trepidation because it's so beloved on Tiktok and GoodReads and I tried (twice) and failed to read Reid's other highly popular novel: Daisy Jones and the Six . I am pleased to say I enjoyed this one! I have a lot of feelings about this book and I'm not entirely sure what they are. 😂 I am a character lover. If I love a book it's because I felt for the characters. This book was not that. Evelyn is not very likable, but she's also very magnetic. I think it's really pretty genius of Reid to be able to write in such a way that you're enraptured by a character even if you don't like her or relate to her. This book read like a nice gossip column, but also tackled some pretty big issues.  Evelyn tells her story to a writer named Monique. We get small glimpses into Monique's life. She is going through a divorce and not feeling very fulfilled in her career. Then t...
