My Favorite Books of All Time (right now)

This book I read right after it first came out in 2019 and I still think about it all the time. It's huge and I recommend it to everyone. 😅

When I first read this book I was NOT prepared. All I'm saying is grab some tissues. I thought it was really inspiring and just so heartbreaking. I have been known to buy this book as a gift for others.

I actually found this book because I was searching for books to read after Priory and this book came up on a 'you may like' list. I did like. I loved it. I've still yet to finish the trilogy because I'm just not ready. This is such a fun tale. I vote for them to turn this into a TV show. (I'm manifesting it lol)

Y'alllllllll. This is not my typical genre. This book is SO MUCH FUN. I don't remember what possessed me to pick up this book at my book store, but I read it in about a day. I don't even play videogames or know that many 80s movies, but I was still highly entertained by this book and could not put it down. Please give it a try.

I made the mistake of trying to read this book in the break room at work. I was just sitting there crying trying to eat my lunch and not draw too much attention to myself. Lou is my favorite character ever. She is so bright and positive and I love her.

I just read this book for the first time last month and I absolutely loved it. I was never as into the movie as my sister (but I do still enjoy it). I found the book to be such an immersive experience. I can see myself re-reading this in the future which is not something I do very often. This book is a blast and definitely got my heart rate up a few times!

Speaking of a rushing heart rate, this book is one of the only books I have ever chucked across the room because something scared me. 🤣 The book is much, much better than any movie version I have seen. I think it's really something where you need to be in Jack's head and that doesn't translate very well to screen.

We read this book for a class in high school and I remember being really taken by it. This was before I became obsessed with New Orleans. I was able to go to Grand Isle a few years back and it made me think of this book again.

This one is a two-fer. The Napping House is the first book I remember being my favorite and these are both stellar. The illustrations are so beautiful and the stories are fun!

I was obsessed with this book in high school (?I think it was high school). I really like Vermeer (the painter) and this book has some unrequited love feelings which I was all about at the time. Dind't hurt that the movie had Colin Firth. 😻
This one is my honorable mention. I remember once in middle school I really wanted to keep reading this book so I faked sick to get sent home. No regrets.

There you have it! My top ten favorite books at the moment. I feel like I can never really choose a favorite and most of these I have read in the last few years so they come to mind when thinking of books I really like. What are some of your favorites?

Always, in December- Emily Stone

Summary:  It started with a letter. It ended with a love story. Every December, Josie posts a letter from her home in London to the parents she lost on Christmas night many years ago. Each year, she writes the same three words:  Missing you, always.  But this year, her annual trip to the postbox is knocked off course by a bicycle collision with a handsome stranger--a stranger who will change the course of Josie's life.   Josie always thought she was the only one who avoided the Christmas season, but this year, Max has his own reasons for doing the same—and coincidence leads them to spending the holiday together. Aglow with new love, Josie thinks this might be the start of something special.    Only for Max to disappear without saying goodbye.    Over the course of the next year, Max and Josie will find that fate continues to bring them together in places they'd never expect. New York City. Edinburgh. The quiet English countryside. And it turn...

Evelyn Hugo

This week I finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo  by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I had a little trepidation because it's so beloved on Tiktok and GoodReads and I tried (twice) and failed to read Reid's other highly popular novel: Daisy Jones and the Six . I am pleased to say I enjoyed this one! I have a lot of feelings about this book and I'm not entirely sure what they are. 😂 I am a character lover. If I love a book it's because I felt for the characters. This book was not that. Evelyn is not very likable, but she's also very magnetic. I think it's really pretty genius of Reid to be able to write in such a way that you're enraptured by a character even if you don't like her or relate to her. This book read like a nice gossip column, but also tackled some pretty big issues.  Evelyn tells her story to a writer named Monique. We get small glimpses into Monique's life. She is going through a divorce and not feeling very fulfilled in her career. Then t...

Finlay Donovan Is Killing It- Elle Cosimano

This book was a hoot. I was lucky enough to get it in from the library after only a couple week's wait. Finlay is a struggling writer who desperately needs to come into some cash. While meeting with her agent at a Panera Bread a woman overhears their conversation and mistakes Finlay to be a hitwoman! She offers Finlay 50,000 to kill her husband. She wouldn't do it, right? Obviously, the book blurb hooked me as soon as I read it. Though at times the book gets a little too coincidental, it is still a fun read. I enjoyed the characters as well and I'm excited there will be a book two coming out next year! Finlay reminded me a little bit of Rebecca Bloomwood ( Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella). Things just "happen" to Becky in hilarious ways a lot.  I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who doesn't take themselves too seriously and is looking for a 'for fun' read. It was a good cleanser to some of the other stuff I have been reading. Not 1...
