I don't always love a Cinderella retelling. They are always hit or miss for me. This one was definitely a hit! I have always wanted a story where the Cinderella character gets along with her step family. This book finally gave that to me. Not only do they accept her, but they love her and she loves them. I thought Cindy was a pretty cute character and I definitely swooned a little over Henry. I don't really watch The Bachelor, but I always enjoy books like it for some reason. Probably because you get all the behind the scenes stuff you do not get on the show. I am excited to see that this is the start of a new series. I look forward to reading more of her retellings. It's a lot of fun! I enjoy my romance books nice and cheesy and this book made me squeal from adorableness a few times. 😊

{An aside: I have not been very active on here. I have been reading steadily, but my mind has been pretty divided and I sometimes will have started 12 books and finish nothing because nothing is holding my attention. There will probably be more super short reviews and lists.}

Evelyn Hugo

  This week I finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo  by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I had a little trepidation because it's so beloved on Tiktok and GoodReads and I tried (twice) and failed to read Reid's other highly popular novel: Daisy Jones and the Six . I am pleased to say I enjoyed this one! I have a lot of feelings about this book and I'm not entirely sure what they are. 😂 I am a character lover. If I love a book it's because I felt for the characters. This book was not that. Evelyn is not very likable, but she's also very magnetic. I think it's really pretty genius of Reid to be able to write in such a way that you're enraptured by a character even if you don't like her or relate to her. This book read like a nice gossip column, but also tackled some pretty big issues.  Evelyn tells her story to a writer named Monique. We get small glimpses into Monique's life. Finlay Donovan Is Killing It- Elle Cosimano

  This book was a hoot. I was lucky enough to get it in from the library after only a couple week's wait. Finlay is a struggling writer who desperately needs to come into some cash. While meeting with her agent at a Panera Bread a woman overhears their conversation and mistakes Finlay to be a hitwoman! She offers Finlay 50,000 to kill her husband. She wouldn't do it, right? Obviously, the book blurb hooked me as soon as I read it. Though at times the book gets a little too coincidental, it is still a fun read. I enjoyed the characters as well and I'm excited there will be a book two coming out next year! Finlay reminded me a little bit of Rebecca Bloomwood ( Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella). Things just "happen" to Becky in hilarious ways a lot.  I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who doesn't take themselves too seriously and is looking for a 'for fun' read.
